Time is the most valuable asset we have. As a manager, balancing multiple projects, leading teams, and planning for the future can stretch that resource thin. That’s why I view AI tools as strategic partners, helping to optimize time and focus my attention on making a greater impact where it matters most.
Since ChatGPT went public in 2022, I became an early adopter and have used this and other AI applications daily. These tools have supported me in sharpening my communication and serving as one of many sources for ideation. Rather than replacing human judgment, I see AI as an amplifier of creativity and clarity.
In practice, AI enables me to:
Generate ideas faster by exploring multiple approaches to a problem.
Refine messaging to ensure clarity and resonance with diverse audiences.
Visualize outcomes through scenario testing and strategic modeling.
Streamline tasks that once consumed valuable hours, freeing space for higher-level thinking.
I use ChatGPT (OpenAI) for content creation, refining written communication, and brainstorming ideas. MidJourney and DALL·E support visual content generation and creative projects, while Adobe Firefly and the Adobe Creative Suite help bring those concepts to polished, professional outputs. Notion AI assists with organization, task management, and refining communication, and Slack AI improves team collaboration by summarizing discussions, highlighting action items, and streamlining workflows. Together, these tools allow me to combine AI-driven efficiency with human judgment to deliver high-quality results across projects.
Communication
One of the most valuable aspects is the real-time feedback on tone and delivery. By testing how language might be perceived, I can adjust for clarity, professionalism, or persuasiveness depending on the context. This has strengthened not only my written communication but also the way I deliver feedback and present complex ideas. AI has saved me significant time by reducing the tendency to overthink or continuously re-write communications. With stronger drafts generated quickly, I can focus my energy on the strategic intent of the message rather than getting stuck in endless revisions.
Strategic Planning
I leverage AI to enhance strategic planning, turning layered information into actionable insight. It has allowed me to better simulate multiple project timelines and budget scenarios to anticipate risks and identify the most efficient path forward. AI also helps me translate these analyses into clear, concise reports for stakeholders, ensuring alignment across teams. I have also found value in pinpointing potential issues outside my domain, such as legal or financial considerations, so I can escalate them proactively and communicate effectively with specialists.
Marketing & Branding
I enjoy taking initial campaign ideas and using AI prompts to expand them with creative insights and uncover more nuanced opportunities. This approach has improved engagement by generating enhanced taglines, social media posts, and audience targeting suggestions. By looking at public content and ads, AI can spot patterns and strategies competitors are using. It can show which messages connect with audiences what content gets the most engagement and even the timing and frequency of campaigns. This insight can also reveal gaps in the market and help create unique opportunities.
On the creative side, I have leveraged a variety of platforms to generate graphics, video clips, voiceovers, and website layouts. These tools have allowed small or no budget projects to be executed in-house rather than relying on external vendors. They also enable rapid prototyping of visuals and messaging, making it easy to test different approaches and refine campaigns for greater marketing effectiveness.
Operational Efficiency
I use AI agents and task tracking tools to manage routine or less critical tasks, allowing me to stay organized and focused on higher-priority work. These tools help optimize my schedule, prioritize tasks, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. By automating repetitive processes and providing timely reminders or suggestions, AI frees up time and mental energy, making my workflow more efficient and productive. I use Motion and Slack AI in team projects to more effectively manage tasks, track deliverables, and stay on schedule.
I don’t use AI to simply copy, paste, or automate tasks. Instead, I leverage it to surface insights and explore possibilities, while applying my own judgment, intuition, and perspective to make final decisions.
AI amplifies human reasoning, it doesn’t replace it.
While AI can be a powerful tool, I have firsthand experience with AI hallucinations and inaccuracies in historical references. Verifying the information is essential, and I always consult multiple sources before drawing final conclusions.
Human context and judgment is critical to effectively using AI tools. I bring my own insights when reviewing AI-generated content to account for real-world nuances that AI cannot fully understand.
I make a point to understand how this technology works behind the scenes through large language models (LLMs) and data training. Security and privacy are critical, and I do not share proprietary datasets or sensitive information through AI models. In practice, I have anonymized data sets and sensitive variables. I also consult with professionals and company policies when determining uses for data and AI modeling.
In my graduate courses in data management, I gained an understanding of how datasets are leveraged in machine learning. I am aware that these datasets can carry inherent biases and fairness issues due to a variety of factors. This awareness guides my use of large language models in professional decision-making, where evolving market conditions and unique business scenarios may not be fully represented in existing data. This is why it is critical for decisions to be made that are informed and contextually grounded.
I have been amazed by how quickly AI technologies have advanced. Using a variety of creative and analytical tools, it’s incredible how human-like visuals are becoming and how fast information can be generated. AI also makes it possible to access insights in almost any field. There’s no doubt that this technology and the skills to use it effectively will continue to grow and change the way we work.
I remain open minded and committed to exploring new applications of AI while staying mindful of both its tremendous benefits and potential pitfalls.
